CAAP
Test Information
The Collegiate Assessment of Academic Proficiency (CAAP) is a postsecondary assessment program designed to help institutions measure the academic achievement levels of their students in selected core academic skills. CAAP offers test modules in Reading, Writing, Mathematics, Critical Thinking, and Science Reasoning. CAAP is used to help institutions improve instructional programs by measuring student progress in the acquisition of core academic skills. Institutions concerned with program evaluation use CAAP to provide evidence that general education objectives are being met, to document change in students' performance levels from one educational point to another, and to compare performance gains across general education instructional programs within an institution. Information for Students
The Collegiate Assessment of Academic Proficiency (CAAP) is a set of tests designed to assess academic achievement of college and university students.

MU administers five of the CAAP examinations: Writing Skills, Science Reasoning, Mathematics, Reading, and Critical Thinking. Students will take only one of the five tests. Each student in the testing room will be given one of the five tests in rotating fashion. A student may not choose which of the five tests he or she will take. All tests are multiple choice format.

The test is timed for 40 minutes. Additional time will be needed before the test itself begins to distribute test materials and to read instructions. Also, a short period of time will be needed to collect testing materials at the end. Students are to remain in their seats for the entire testing time.

There is no penalty for guessing. The score is based on the total number of questions answered correctly, so it is to the student's advantage to answer every question.

Students must bring a CALCULATOR in the event that the student is given the Mathematics test. Pocket organizers, handheld or laptop computers, or calculators with QWERTY (typewriter-style) keyboards may NOT be used as calculators.
